Beauty – Embracing the Power of Light and Love
The fifth Grace/Seed is Beauty – embracing the power of Light and Love. Beauty surrounds us. It is our job to see it and embrace its power in our lives.
our highest calling
By now, we’ve hopefully gotten into a daily rhythm of Gratitude. We’ve begun the ongoing process of exercising Simplicity. Our homes and our lives have a sense of Order. Harmony eases in as we set aside time and space to simply be and make space for ourselves. Then suddenly we see it – a small wildflower poking up through a crack on the sidewalk. The way the sun’s rays filter through the clouds on a cold winter day. And we are filled with Light and Love.
Beauty – embracing the power of Light and Love, is our next seed to cultivate. This desire to fill our minds, our homes, our lives with Light and Love becomes of paramount importance. We simply must have Beauty. It is our highest calling.
what is beauty?
It has been said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I want to expand on that a bit and add that what makes a person, a place, a thing beautiful is the feeling evoked within each of us. What is striking and awe-inspiring to me may seem commonplace to another. What captures your eye and attention may never even garner a glance from me. And that’s ok. It’s part of what makes this life so incredible and rich. God has gifted each of us with an eye for beauty, the ability to see the very fingerprints of God in our lives. The key ingredient is that it pulls us to a higher version of ourselves. It opens our eyes and our hearts and connects us to Love and Light. We feel free and peaceful.
Beauty is the outward expression of Gratitude, Simplicity, Order, and Harmony. When these elements are present, Beauty floats effortlessly to the surface. The Light and Love we see in someone is what makes them beautiful; the same Light and Love others see in us.
MAKE A PLAN
How do we find or create the Beauty we seek? Just like we do anything else that is worth pursuing…we make a plan! Look ahead for the next week or two and set aside at least one hour to visit your local art museum or art gallery. Make your bed with care and spray your sheets with your favorite perfume or essential oil. Set the table, light some candles and tell Alexa/Google/Siri to play some relaxing dinner music. (The playlist from my wedding luncheon is below if you need inspiration.). Pick up some flowers from your local grocery and arrange them in a pretty vase, just because. If it’s spring/summer where you are, pick some wildflowers and put them in a mason jar to perk up a windowsill.
start small and see how it grows
Start small this week and see how many beautiful things and people you encounter. The key is to determine what calls to the Love and Light inside of you. Then pursue that! Make a point to incorporate it into your weekly (if not daily) rounds. A wonderful thing happens when we focus on beauty…we find more of it!
Record the beauty you see, the Light and Love you experience, in our FREE Gratitude Journal. Then share your Beauty with us in our private fb group.
