Order – The Trellis of an Extraordinary Life
Order – the trellis of an extraordinary life – continues the work of Gratitude and Simplicity to form a framework for Harmony, Beauty and Joy.
divine order
There is Order all around us in nature. We were designed and created with purpose. There is an order of life that begins from conception and takes us to birth, to living, to death. Our bodies and minds develop in a set order. Seeds grow into towering oaks and beautiful flowers. Order is integral to our daily lives.
essential SEED
Order is probably the “seed” you hear the most about. There are tons of blogs, books, speakers, stores and products all pitching their version of Order. But, few dive into WHY our homes and our lives NEED it. Sure, organized things look prettier (check out The Home Edit). And yes, orderly spaces make it easier to find things. But, when we invite Order into our spaces, deeper spiritual and mental needs are met.
When we can clear the external clutter, our minds suddenly have space to think. If our spaces are free of messes, we can more clearly discern and therefore, make better and wiser decisions. A cleared counter or a made bed instantly gives us a boost of confidence and accomplishment. An organized and tidy space lifts our spirits. While a messy and disorganized space leaves us feeling icky and overwhelmed.
daily rounds
Order-the trellis of an extraordinary life-offers us structure for our days. It frees up our minds and bodies for more creativity, more spontaneity, more true living. I’m not talking about strict constructs and schedules; more a framework to build on, flow from, relax into. Order, those daily routines and rhythms, sets us on a kind of auto-pilot, cruise-control, an easy, graceful pace.
Some small orderly things that help me:
- Make the bed
- Empty the dishwasher
- Sweep the floors
- Fold the blankets in the family room
- Clear countertops
- Put things away after they are used – Don’t put it down, put it away!
I’ve found that especially when I’m feeling overwhelmed or a bit on the crazy side because life has gotten a bit out of sorts, a few minutes of tidying up and putting things in order shifts my entire mood and mindset.
If I go more than a day without tidying up, my mood tanks. Big time. Just ask my husband. 😉 But, when I take just a few minutes to put a room in order, my mood lifts. I feel lighter, freer. And don’t we all want that?
